York St. John University
Black Light provides a full equipment installation for University’s performance space
Filed under : Installations, Education
To develop its status as a Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning, York St. John University wanted its old chapel drama space completely renovated. Thanks to our track record working with education providers and drama groups, Black Light was asked to install the lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment in the revamped performance venue.
Key Details:
Service Type: Installations
Sector: Education
Completion: 2006
Client: York St. John University
What we did
We reviewed and interpreted the client’s design and gave guidance as to which products would best meet the University’s specifications. The installation spanned seven areas including the main performance space, the chapel, three drama workshops and linking areas. Each area required lighting controls and AV.
Among the equipment we installed was a Procon AV control system. This is a well priced, highly versatile system that enables switching through the large number of plug-in points available to the users of the space.
The assignment presented us with a number of challenges as there were some delays to the building works and some specifications changed mid-project. This meant that we had to adapt our design and approach over the project’s lifetime.
Result
The finished performance space is a fabulous addition to the University’s facilities and easily lives up to its status as a Centre of Excellence. This is in no small part due to the systems that we installed.Feedback
Our project completion survey reviews all aspects of a job from the original tender through to completion and training. For this project, the survey shows that our client, Brian Royce, was very satisfied with our work. Brain said: “It was great to work with a contractor with whom I had extreme confidence. A pleasant experience.”
