Black Light installs new dimmer systems for The Sage Gateshead

The Sage Gateshead is one of the UK’s leading music venues. Its existing auditorium dimmer system was over complex and proving to be unreliable. We replaced it with a simplified set up, using equipment that we knew was the best on the market in terms of reliability and functionality.

What we did
- The Sage’s lighting system was reviewed and a new solution devised in line with the client’s specifications.
- The old dimmer system had to be carefully stripped out. This was very demanding work as it was interconnected with a number of other lighting and alarm systems.
- Our involvement came at the end of an overall maintenance programme. It was therefore vital that we met our deadlines so that we did not disrupt the venue’s performance programme.
- The main equipment we used comprised ETC Sensor dimming and Unison Paradigm control systems.

The Sage Gateshead is both a live music venue and a centre for music education. It is an international home for music and musical discovery and is bringing about a widespread and long-term enrichment of the musical life of the North East of England.
