Black Light Helps Create Music Video Ecstasy
Our Hire Team has helped a cutting-edge video production companies achieve a dark and compelling look for its latest piece of work - a video for up-coming Scottish band Kid Adrift.
The video, which was made by Edinburgh-based Cagoule Productions, is for the band’s latest single A4 in Ecstasy. It features two boxers battling it out in a down-at-heel ring. It is a powerful piece that is lit in a starkly monochromatic style to emphasise the cinematic aspect of the boxers’ moves and to mirror the atmospheric and energetic music.
We supplied all the lighting for the video production. “The Lighting designer has worked closely with us in the past and knew he could rely on us to deliver the right equipment in a quick and efficient manner, at the high standard expected by Video Production Companies,” says Head of Events, Stephen Reid. “The video is well worth a look, as it is lit with real imagination and shows that you can be creative using a relatively simple approach.”
The video’s lighting director, Martin Palmer, hired a package that included pups, misors, KinoFlos, black drapes and dimmers. “A little front light with misors, a 4 Bank 4’ KinoFlo and haze gave us the look we wanted,” he says.
Martin was particularly pleased with the fast turnaround that we achieved on his hire order. “After attending a meeting on Thursday evening and then doing a recce of the location, I realised that I had to work fast to get the dark and stylish look my client needed, as the shoot was for Sunday,” he says. Martin phoned us on Friday and was able to collect the equipment on the next day for an afternoon set up. “The Black Light team responded well to my needs, turning the equipment and the quotation around very quickly. This made for an easy shoot and a great result.”
