Installation department gets new manager
We are pleased to announce that Craig Collin has taken over as our Installation and Project Estimator. Craig brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the job and aims to build on the already excellent reputation of the department.
“I’ll be looking at the overall service we offer and the processes we use, and will be refining and improving both,” says Collin. “It’s an exciting new challenge for me to get my teeth into and I relish the opportunity to get involved in projects from the design stage.”
In his new role, Collin will lead the team designing, specifying and estimating our new-build and refit installation projects.
Collin has worked for Black Light for over four years. His most recent position was as technical manager and he has used his specialist know-how on a range of technically-challenging projects, such as the ingenious exterior lighting system Black Light installed for the dome of Edinburgh’s Usher Hall.
Collin was part of the team that designed this system which folds away out of sight when not in us. His experience on projects such as this means that he is an expert at gauging how to specify products for a project, so that the client’s needs for value and performance are properly balanced.
“I’ll ensure that the systems we provide match our clients’ needs and budgets,” Collin says. “I grew up around the industry and I have worked extensively in theatre. This means that I really understand the business’ requirements, pressures and deadlines.”
Craig’s promotion follows the departure of Paul McGreal who worked for Black Light for over 14 years. McGreal was instrumental in the delivery of a wide range of high-profile projects, including work at internationally-renowned venues such as the Sage in Newcastle and The New Athenaeum Theatre in Glasgow, as well as numerous high-profile projects in the local authority and education sector. Paul is following his passion for triathlons with his sports event company Durty Events.
