Black Light has worked with Graham Construction and North Lanarkshire Council to install a full package of stage lighting, sound, audio visual and recording studio equipment at the new Coltness High School in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire. This is the first of six similar projects we are involved with and demonstrates our expertise in the education sector and our ability to offer a high quality, specification-compliant proposal at the right price.

“Black Light did an extremely professional installation,” said Derek Johnston, Head of Music and Drama at the school. “The entire system looks incredibly neat and tidy and operates in an extremely effective and flexible manner.” Mr Johnston also noted that our team was extremely helpful, provided excellent back-up and after sales support and took the time to carefully explain how all the new systems operated. “One of Black Light’s staff even emailed me detailed diagrams of the system,” he added. “I have to say I find this invaluable in terms of the day-to-day operation of our new recording studio facility.”

o achieve the required outcome for the end users at the school, we developed a detailed project proposal that completely met the requirements of the Local Authority. Our installation team then carried out a top quality, on-time and on-budget full package installation. The new facilities allow the school to make high quality audio recordings of students' work from three areas of the school.  The set up allows the staff and pupils to record anything from a school rock/pop band through to large choirs, school band concerts and shows.

“This was the first of six schools in the same purchasing consortium, so we spent a lot of time and effort getting the specifications absolutely correct and ‘nailed down’,” said Head of Company Development, Phil Haldane. “The Local Authority have very high ambitions for the quality of the buildings and systems they want to provide. We therefore worked closely with them through several phases of design development to ensure their requirements were met exactly.”
Among the equipment we installed at the school were: Andolite IWBs and Facilities Panels, Zero88 Chilli Dimmers, a Zero88 Jester Lighting Control Desk, Selecon and ETC Luminaires, Tannoy Loudspeakers, a Soundcraft Mixing Desk, Tascam CD Players, QSC Amplifiers, EEE Unitrack and Hall Stage T60 Curtain Tracks and Tecpro Stage Comms.
